Islamabad, February 17, 2026 — The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety on Tuesday issued an official statement regarding the determination and announcement of the Nisab of Zakat for the year 2026.
According to the ministry, the Zakat Nisab for the Islamic year 1446–47 AH (FY 2025–26) will be calculated strictly in line with Shariah principles and the prevailing market value of silver. The finalized Nisab amount will be officially notified through the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and disseminated via print and electronic media to ensure wide public awareness.
The ministry further stated that a formal summary will be prepared and submitted to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for approval, outlining the distribution of Zakat funds to provinces and federal areas for the fiscal year 2025–26.
In order to enhance the efficiency and transparency of Zakat collection, the ministry will collect updated data and lists of newly registered companies from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the relevant stock exchanges. Based on this information, a unique Zakat Identification Code will be assigned to each company to streamline compliance and facilitate improved Zakat collection mechanisms.
The ministry reiterated that the Nisab of Zakat is declared annually during the last week of the Hijri month of Sha’aban ul Muazim. The announcement is made through the State Bank of Pakistan, as well as national print and electronic media outlets.
For the previous year, 1445–46 AH (FY 2024–25), the Zakat Nisab was set at Rs 179,689 following approval by the Secretary and Administrator General Zakat of the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety.
The upcoming announcement of the Nisab for 1446–47 AH is expected to provide clarity to account holders and taxpayers ahead of the annual Zakat deduction cycle.
