US Consul General visits CDC

KARACHI – May 19, 2025 – In a significant move to strengthen economic cooperation between the United States and Pakistan, US Consul General Rob Silberstein led a high-level delegation from the US Consulate in Karachi to the Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited (CDC). The visit, held at CDC’s head office, was part of ongoing efforts to bolster trade and investment relations between the two countries.

The event was attended by representatives of prominent Pakistani corporates and American businesses operating in Pakistan. During the visit, the Consul General and his team engaged in discussions on potential areas of collaboration, especially within Pakistan’s capital markets and financial sectors.

Moin M. Fudda, Chairman of the CDC Board of Directors, warmly received the Consul General and accompanying delegates. In his address, Fudda emphasized the importance of long-standing bilateral ties between Pakistan and the United States, underlining the need for stronger partnerships in the realms of commerce, finance, and investment. He praised the active involvement of US businesses in Pakistan and expressed optimism for deeper economic linkages.

Badiuddin Akber, CEO of CDC, provided a comprehensive overview of the Pakistan capital market landscape and CDC’s pivotal role in its growth and modernization. He highlighted how CDC has maintained robust partnerships with US-based financial institutions, and how such linkages have played a role in enhancing Pakistan’s market infrastructure.

Speaking at the occasion, US Consul General Rob Silberstein commended the efforts of CDC in transforming the country’s capital market. He praised the organization’s innovative contributions, noting that the CDC serves as a model for market development and efficiency.
