US Dollar Weakens by 3 Paisa Against Pakistani Rupee in Interbank Market

US Dollar Currency New

Karachi, December 17, 2025 – The US dollar experienced a slight decline of 3 paisa against the Pakistani rupee in the interbank foreign exchange market on Wednesday. According to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the dollar closed at Rs280.27, down from the previous day’s closing of Rs280.30, reflecting cautious market movements.

Currency analysts attributed the rupee’s modest gain to Pakistan’s current account surplus of $100 million for November 2025. Positive market sentiment was further supported as exporters actively sold dollars to benefit from favorable exchange rates, while importers remained mostly inactive, anticipating further depreciation in the dollar’s value.

The Pakistani rupee has shown a gradual appreciation over the past several months, bolstered by improving economic indicators, strong workers’ remittances, and other foreign inflows. Experts suggest that these inflows are likely to continue supporting the rupee’s stability in the near term.

However, analysts caution that rising economic activity may increase the demand for dollars, potentially creating pressure on the local currency. They recommend that businesses and traders closely monitor the interbank market to make informed decisions regarding forex transactions.

Overall, the rupee’s current trend reflects a balance between positive foreign inflows and growing domestic demand for dollars, indicating that the currency’s performance will remain sensitive to both local and global economic developments.
