Very cold weather expected across Punjab districts on January 14: PMD

Islamabad, January 13, 2026 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast very cold and dry weather for several districts of Punjab on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, with dense fog and frost likely in many areas.

According to the PMD, cold and dry conditions will prevail across most parts of Punjab on Tuesday and Wednesday, while very cold weather is expected in Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding hilly regions. Moderate to dense fog is likely to persist in major districts including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and adjoining areas, potentially affecting road visibility during night and early morning hours.

The weather department has also warned that frost may develop at isolated locations in the Pothohar region during morning hours on Wednesday, increasing the risk for crops and early commuters.

At the national level, the PMD said that continental air is dominating most parts of the country, resulting in cold and dry conditions. Hilly areas are expected to remain very cold, while fog is likely to continue over Punjab, upper Sindh, and plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next two days.

During the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across most regions, with very cold conditions in northern and hilly areas. Frost was reported in parts of Kashmir and Pothohar, while dense fog affected several districts of Punjab and upper Sindh.

The lowest recorded temperatures included Leh at -12°C, Skardu at -10°C, and Gilgit at -7°C.
