Fashion designer says growing older has helped her care less about public opinion and embrace self-acceptance
Victoria Beckham has opened up about her lifelong struggles with insecurity and self-doubt, admitting she spent years feeling “not good enough” despite her global fame and success.
In a candid interview with The Times, the former Spice Girls star reflected on her evolving relationship with self-image and the lessons she has learned through aging.
“I’ve spent my whole life feeling that I’m not good enough,” Victoria Beckham said, adding that one of the best aspects of growing older is “caring less about what other people think.”
The 52-year-old fashion entrepreneur acknowledged that she spent much of her life dissatisfied with her appearance but said she is now learning to embrace self-acceptance.
“That doesn’t mean you have to compromise,” she said. “You can still look good.”
Victoria Beckham also stressed that aging should not limit ambition, confidence or personal growth.
The designer said she now trains harder than she did in her twenties and thirties and believes people can continue achieving meaningful goals later in life.
“Just because you’re older doesn’t mean you’re limited in what you can do. You can achieve great things as you get older,” she said.
Victoria shares four children — Brooklyn Beckham, Romeo Beckham, Cruz Beckham and Harper Beckham — with husband David Beckham.
The former singer had previously expressed similar feelings while celebrating her 50th birthday in April 2024, describing herself in an emotional social media post as “blessed,” “accomplished” and “deeply content” as she embraced a new chapter in life.
