Hollywood star Vin Diesel has officially confirmed that global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo will make his acting debut in the Fast & Furious universe, joining the cast of Fast X: Part 2, the franchise’s final installment scheduled for release in April 2027.
The 58-year-old actor and producer announced the news on Friday through an Instagram post, sharing a photo alongside the Portuguese soccer superstar. Diesel revealed that a special role was specifically written for Ronaldo, marking a major crossover between the worlds of sports and blockbuster cinema.
“Everyone asked, would he be in the Fast mythology… I gotta tell you he is a real one. We wrote a role for him,” Diesel wrote, fueling excitement among fans of both the film series and the football legend.
Diesel previously confirmed in February 2024 that Fast X: Part 2 would conclude the long-running action saga, which has become one of Hollywood’s most successful franchises. Reflecting on the journey, he described the upcoming film as more than just a finale.
“This grand finale is not just an ending; it’s a celebration of the incredible family we’ve built together,” Diesel said at the time.
The Fast & Furious franchise began in 2001 with the original film starring Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker. Over the years, it has expanded into a global phenomenon featuring an ensemble cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Momoa, Jason Statham, John Cena, Charlize Theron, Gal Gadot, Helen Mirren, Cardi B, Ludacris, Bow Wow, Vanessa Kirby, Alan Ritchson, Jordana Brewster, and others.
Earlier this year, Diesel also revealed that production for the final chapter would return to Los Angeles after delays caused by January wildfires, bringing the saga full circle as it heads toward its long-anticipated conclusion.
