Star India batter Virat Kohli has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings following India’s thrilling four-wicket win over New Zealand in the first ODI. Kohli’s crucial 93 off 91 deliveries guided India to chase down New Zealand’s total of 300 in Vadodara, edging him closer to Sachin Tendulkar in the all-time international run-scoring list.
The 37-year-old has been in sublime form since the Australia series, scoring 74*, 135, 102, 65* and 93 in his last five ODIs. This marks his return to No.1 batting for the first time since July 2021, and his 11th stint at the top. Overall, Kohli has spent 825 days as the No.1 ranked ODI batter—the most by any Indian and 10th overall globally.
