Wayne Osmond, a beloved member of the iconic Utah-based musical group “The Osmonds,” passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 73, according to a family spokesperson.

“His legacy of faith, music, love, and laughter has touched countless lives around the globe,” the family shared in a statement. “He would want everyone to know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true, that families are forever, and that banana splits are the best dessert. We love him and will miss him dearly.”

Born in Ogden, Utah, in 1951, Wayne Osmond was one of the original members of The Osmonds, performing alongside his brothers Alan, Merrill, Jay, Donny, and Jimmy. The group initially gained fame as a barbershop quartet before evolving into pop icons and television stars. Their journey to stardom began after being discovered by Andy Williams’ father while performing at Disneyland. The Osmonds frequently appeared on “The Andy Williams Show” in the 1960s and toured extensively in Europe. Over time, they transitioned into solo careers while leaving a lasting legacy in the music world.

Wayne and his wife, Kathlyn Louise White, shared a loving marriage and raised five children together. Known for his deep connection to family and faith, Wayne also inspired his siblings and fans alike. His brother Jay Osmond shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, saying, “My heart is deeply saddened for the loss of my brother Wayne. It is said that where there is great love, there is great grief. What gives me joy is knowing my brother ‘Wings’ has earned his wings and is soaring to unimaginable heights.”

Merrill Osmond revealed that Wayne suffered a massive stroke and expressed gratitude for being able to say his goodbyes. “My brother was a saint before he came into this world, and he will leave as an even greater saint,” he wrote. “While his departure brings sadness, I know there is a grand celebration awaiting him on the other side.”

The Osmonds’ legacy is rooted in their dedication to music and family values. Originally performing to raise money for their deaf siblings Virl and Tom’s hearing aids and missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they became global ambassadors of faith and unity. Wayne Osmond is the first sibling to pass away and is survived by Virl, Tom, Alan, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Marie, and Jimmy. His enduring influence will continue to inspire generations to come.
