Navi Mumbai, October 30, 2025 – Team India stormed into the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup (WCWC) 2025 final after pulling off a sensational record run chase against defending champions Australia at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.

India defeated Australia by five wickets, scripting history with the highest successful run chase in Women’s ODI history. The thrilling encounter had fans on their feet as India chased down a mammoth target to book their spot in the World Cup final against South Africa on November 2, 2025.

Australia, after electing to bat first, posted a strong total led by Phoebe Litchfield’s stunning century and valuable contributions from Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner. However, disciplined bowling by Sree Charani (2/49) kept India in contention.

In reply, India suffered early setbacks as Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana fell cheaply, but Jemimah Rodrigues (Player of the Match) and Harmanpreet Kaur stitched a monumental 167-run partnership to keep the chase alive. Rodrigues remained composed, taking advantage of two dropped chances, and guided India home with authority and elegance.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur hailed her team’s resilience, saying, “Every player can be a match-winner. We’ve learned from our mistakes and played with belief.”

Australian skipper Alyssa Healy admitted, “We didn’t finish well and dropped key catches. India deserved this win.”

The final between India and South Africa will be played at the same venue on Sunday, November 2, as both sides aim for their first-ever Women’s World Cup title.
