Islamabad, April 17, 2025 – The National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has issued a comprehensive weather advisory warning of severe conditions expected to hit various parts of the country on the evenings of Friday and Saturday (April 18–19, 2025).
According to the NEOC, strong windstorms, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms are forecast across multiple regions, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and parts of Upper and Central Punjab. Affected districts include Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Lahore, Narowal, Sahiwal, Sargodha, and Sheikhupura.
The advisory states that these intense weather events may disrupt daily life by impacting infrastructure, agricultural operations, and transportation systems. Strong winds combined with heavy rainfall could lead to the uprooting of trees and temporary power outages. Windstorms and dust storms may reduce visibility on roads, increasing the risk of accidents. Hailstorms, particularly in rural and farming areas, are expected to cause damage to standing crops, greenhouses, and glass installations.
NDMA officials emphasized that the weather forecast poses potential hazards for both residents and travelers. People are strongly urged to secure loose objects around their properties and limit outdoor movement during periods of severe weather activity. The advisory also cautions that rooftops, vehicles, and power infrastructure could be vulnerable to damage from hail and high winds.
Tourists and travelers, especially those visiting hilly or landslide-prone areas, have been advised to stay up to date through official sources and reconsider non-essential travel during the advisory period. Authorities have also encouraged citizens to download the official Pak NDMA Disaster Alert mobile app to receive real-time weather alerts and safety instructions.
The NDMA stressed that public safety depends on timely access to reliable weather information and strict adherence to all safety advisories. Residents living in areas prone to flooding or landslides should remain on high alert and follow local emergency protocols without delay.
With the risk of intense weather activity on the horizon, the NDMA calls for collective preparedness and responsible behavior to minimize damage and ensure the safety of communities across the affected regions.
