Islamabad, October 2, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast warning of thundershower in Karachi and several other districts of Sindh on Friday, October 3, 2025.
According to the PMD, while most areas of the province are expected to experience hot and dry weather, isolated rain-windstorm and thundershower may occur in districts including Dadu, Badin, Mithi, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Sujawal, Karachi, Mirpur, Thatta, and surrounding regions. There is also a possibility of isolated heavy rainfall during the period.
For Thursday, October 2, 2025, the PMD predicted that hot and dry conditions will prevail in most districts of Sindh. However, scattered rain-windstorm and thundershower may occur in the afternoon in Dadu, Badin, Mithi, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Sujawal, Karachi, Thatta, and nearby areas. Residents are advised to remain cautious as isolated heavyfalls may accompany the thundershower.
The PMD issued a warning noting that windstorm and lightning in some places may cause damage to weak structures such as roofs and walls of kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels in lower Sindh during the forecast period.
At the national level, a well-marked low-pressure system is currently situated over the Gulf of Kutch, drawing moist currents into the Sindh region. Moisture from the Bay of Bengal is also expected to penetrate upper regions from Thursday night, increasing the likelihood of thundershower in Karachi and other lower Sindh districts.
Across Pakistan, hot and dry weather will dominate most areas. However, partly cloudy conditions with rain-windstorm and thundershower are likely in isolated locations of upper and central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Pothohar region, and lower Sindh. In Karachi, residents can expect intermittent thundershower, with potential heavyfalls during brief spells.
During the past 24 hours, isolated rain-wind and thunderstorms were reported in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh, and Narowal, with Karachi remaining mostly dry but expected to witness the upcoming thundershower on Friday.
