Weather Outlook for Islamabad on February 12, 2025

Weather Forecast Thundershowers

Islamabad, February 11, 2025 – The capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad, is set to experience cold and dry weather on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Residents of Islamabad should prepare for chilly conditions as the temperature is expected to remain low throughout the day. The PMD has forecasted that Islamabad and its surrounding areas will witness dry weather, with the possibility of light rain or drizzle in isolated locations.

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Islamabad experienced partly cloudy weather, with a 30% chance of light rain or drizzle in the afternoon. This slight precipitation was caused by a shallow westerly wave affecting the upper regions of the country. The PMD predicts that this weather pattern may persist for the next 24 to 36 hours, influencing temperatures in Islamabad and other parts of northern Pakistan.

Weather Outlook for Pakistan

On Tuesday, cold and dry weather was observed in most regions of the country. However, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and nearby hilly areas experienced cloudy conditions along with light rain or snowfall in isolated spots. The same trend is expected to continue on Wednesday, with Islamabad maintaining its cold and dry weather pattern while northern areas may receive occasional precipitation.

In the past 24 hours, rain and snowfall were recorded in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northwestern Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Light drizzle was also reported in isolated parts of upper Punjab. The recorded rainfall included 18mm in Upper Dir, 11mm in Kalam, and 9mm in Mir Khani. Snowfall contributed to a drop in temperatures, with Leh recording the lowest minimum temperature at -7°C, followed by Gupis at -5°C and Parachinar at -4°C.

Despite the prevailing cold, Islamabad has not recorded significant rainfall, but occasional cloud cover and chilly winds have kept temperatures low. Residents of Islamabad are advised to dress warmly and take precautions against the cold, especially during early mornings and late nights when temperatures are at their lowest. The PMD continues to monitor weather patterns and will provide updates as conditions evolve.
