Islamabad, November 28, 2025 – A strong cold wave has gripped several regions of Pakistan as temperatures continue to dip sharply, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported on Friday. Skardu recorded the lowest temperature at –11°C, making it the coldest location in the country during the past 24 hours.

According to PMD data, several northern and western areas remained under intense cold conditions, with sub-zero temperatures recorded in Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan’s highlands, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ongoing weather pattern is driven by the dominance of continental air, resulting in clear skies, dry conditions, and rapid cooling during nighttime.

The PMD has warned that day and night temperatures may drop further across northern areas in the coming days. Foggy conditions over Punjab and KP plains are expected to intensify gradually, potentially disrupting road and air travel.
