ISLAMABAD – June 28, 2025 – A mix of summer heat, thunderstorms, and strong winds is set to define the weather pattern across Pakistan’s major cities of Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore over the next three days.
As per forecasts issued by AccuWeather, varying degrees of rainfall and cloud cover are expected in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore, with Karachi likely to bear the brunt of monsoon-driven showers.
Karachi: Thunderstorms to Dominate the Weekend
Karachi’s weather is expected to remain unstable through Monday, with high humidity and strong rain spells anticipated. On Saturday, Karachi residents experienced strong morning thunderstorms, and more rain is expected later in the afternoon accompanied by gusty winds. The weather system has pushed RealFeel® temperatures up to 38°C despite a maximum of 33°C.
On Sunday, the weather in Karachi may temporarily ease with fewer showers in the morning, but strong winds and humidity will continue throughout the day. By Monday, another round of cloud cover and scattered rain will affect the city, making it a wet and breezy start to the week. With rain chances hovering at 80%, city authorities have advised caution for low-lying areas prone to waterlogging. Karachi’s unpredictable weather may also cause disruption in public transport and routine activities.
Islamabad: Hot and Hazy with Occasional Sun
Islamabad continues to bake under intense summer conditions, with Saturday registering highs of 40°C and a RealFeel® of 46°C. A brief relief is expected on Sunday as clouds roll in, slightly reducing temperatures to 33°C, though humidity will increase.
Monday may see a partial return to sunny skies as temperatures climb back up to 36°C. Though no significant rain is forecasted, the heat and UV levels remain dangerously high, prompting health advisories for staying hydrated and avoiding peak afternoon exposure.
Lahore: Partly Cloudy and Humid
Lahore is also in the grip of hot weather, although not as severe as Islamabad. The temperature will touch 40°C on Saturday but is expected to drop to the lower 30s by Sunday, albeit with increased humidity. Monday may see a mix of clouds and sun, keeping the atmosphere warm and sticky.
Overall, while Islamabad and Lahore are dealing with extreme heat, Karachi remains the focal point of the weather system due to high rainfall and wind intensity. The coming days highlight the diverse weather patterns in Pakistan, with Karachi’s coastal location making it particularly vulnerable to seasonal disturbances.
