Sharjah, September 30, 2025 – West Indies avoided a humiliating whitewash by thrashing Nepal with a 10-wicket victory in the third and final T20I on Tuesday.
Although the Caribbean side finished the series 2-1 in favor of Nepal, the final game showcased their batting firepower and offered them some relief.
Asked to bat first, Nepal started with promise as Kushal Bhurtel struck 39 off 29 balls, but the innings fell apart after a steady 41-run opening stand. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals, and the middle order failed to resist a fiery West Indies bowling attack. Ramon Simmonds, who bagged 4/15 in just three overs, was the standout performer, supported by Jediah Blades and skipper Akeal Hosein. Nepal eventually folded for a modest 122.
In reply, West Indies’ openers came out with intent. Amir Jangoo, after a cautious start, unleashed a flurry of sixes, dismantling the Nepalese bowlers and sealing the chase with overs to spare. His explosive hitting, supported by steady rotation of strike, ensured the Caribbean team crossed the line without losing a wicket.
Ramon Simmonds was named Player of the Match for his superb bowling, while Kushal Bhurtel received the Player of the Series award for his consistent batting across the three games.
Nepal captain Rohit Paudel expressed pride in his team’s performance, highlighting that winning their first-ever T20I series against a Test-playing nation was historic. He admitted the final game slipped away but stressed the series would inspire Nepal ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
