Chattogram, October 29, 2025 – West Indies clinched the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh with a hard-fought victory in the second T20I at the Bir Shrestho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium, Chattogram, on Wednesday.

This marks West Indies’ second T20I series win of the year and their third consecutive triumph over Bangladesh on home soil. With an unassailable 2-0 lead, the Caribbean side now eyes a clean sweep when the final T20I takes place on Friday, October 31.

After electing to bat, the visitors got off to a flying start, racing to 94/1 in the first 10 overs courtesy of a brilliant 105-run stand between skipper Shai Hope and Alick Athanze, both notching up half-centuries. However, Bangladesh bowlers staged a dramatic comeback, restricting West Indies to 149/9. Nasum Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman were the pick of the bowlers, with Rahman’s 3-wicket burst turning the tide.

Defending a modest total, West Indies bowlers produced a stunning performance. Despite several dropped catches, Romario Shepherd and Akeal Hosein led the charge with three wickets each, while Jason Holder bagged two. Bangladesh, chasing 150, faltered repeatedly, losing wickets at regular intervals despite a valiant fifty from Tanzid Hasan.

Litton Das (Bangladesh captain) lamented his team’s poor shot selection, admitting they “gave wickets away too easily.” West Indies skipper Shai Hope praised his bowlers for their composure under pressure, while Player of the Match Romario Shepherd credited their disciplined Powerplay bowling for the win.

With this victory, West Indies ended Bangladesh’s streak of four consecutive T20I series wins, delivering a statement of intent ahead of their upcoming tour to New Zealand.
