WhatsApp introduces shareable event invites for non-users

The messaging platform rolls out Events Home, allowing users to send event invitations to people without WhatsApp accounts and manage RSVPs in one place.

WhatsApp has introduced new event management features, allowing users to create and share event invitations with people who do not have an account on the messaging platform.

Previously, WhatsApp users could create events in individual conversations and group chats. With the latest update, they can also generate shareable event links that allow guests without WhatsApp accounts to view event details and confirm their attendance without downloading the application.

According to WhatsApp, users can create an event, add a cover photo and share an invitation link with potential guests. Recipients can access the event information and RSVP directly through the shared link.

The company has also introduced privacy protections for these invitations. WhatsApp said users’ phone numbers will not be displayed to event guests they do not know. Furthermore, guests without WhatsApp accounts will only be able to view the event address after confirming their attendance.

The changes are designed to make event planning more convenient by allowing users to invite people beyond their existing WhatsApp contacts.

WhatsApp launches Events Home

Alongside shareable invitations, WhatsApp has announced Events Home, a centralised hub that brings event creation and management tools together in one place.

The new feature allows users to create customised invitations, manage responses, set personalised reminders and add a plus-one to an event. This gives organisers more control over guest lists and event arrangements without having to manage everything through individual chats.

Events Home also provides a complete list of past and upcoming events, including invitations received from other users and events created personally.

Users can access the feature by opening WhatsApp and navigating to Settings, followed by the Events menu. This provides a single location to review event details and manage invitations.

The update is particularly useful for people organising gatherings involving friends, family members or other guests who may not use WhatsApp.

New WhatsApp event features rolling out

WhatsApp confirmed that the new event features are already being rolled out to users. The company expects the updates to reach everyone over the coming weeks.

The introduction of shareable invitations expands WhatsApp’s existing event tools, making the platform more useful for organising activities involving both account holders and non-users.
