WhatsApp is set to enhance user experience with a new feature called “Quick Recap”, allowing users to summarize unread messages across multiple conversations at once.
This follows the recent stable release of the “Message Summaries” feature, which currently supports only one chat at a time.
As per a report by WABetaInfo, the Quick Recap feature will enable users to select up to five conversations simultaneously and generate a summary of unread messages.
To use it, users will simply select the desired chats from the Chats tab, tap the three-dot menu at the top-right corner, and choose “Quick Recap” from the dropdown list.
Like Message Summaries, Quick Recap utilizes Meta’s Private Processing technology, which ensures that both original messages and generated summaries remain encrypted and inaccessible to third parties—including Meta and WhatsApp itself.
Importantly, the Quick Recap feature is optional and remains disabled by default. Additionally, chats that are protected with “Advanced Chat Privacy” settings will not be eligible for summaries under this feature.
Currently, the Quick Recap functionality has been spotted in the WhatsApp beta version 2.25.21.12 for Android, but it is still under development. Even if users have this beta version installed, they won’t be able to access the feature just yet. It is expected to roll out first to beta testers in the coming updates before being included in a stable release for all users globally.
With Quick Recap, WhatsApp continues to enhance user productivity by helping them stay on top of unread messages more efficiently, especially in today’s fast-paced messaging environment.
