Karachi, March 24, 2026 – Residents of Karachi can expect rain this week as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a countrywide forecast predicting thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning from March 24 to 30.
According to the PMD, a westerly weather system is entering parts of Balochistan on March 24 and is expected to intensify by the night of March 27. Under its influence, several regions across Pakistan will experience wet weather conditions.
For Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad, rainfall is likely on March 25, 26, 28, and 29. Other cities such as Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu may also receive showers during this period.
The forecast comes after the port city experienced heavy rain with thunder and lightning on the first day of Eid ul Fitr, which led to waterlogging in low-lying areas and severe traffic disruptions. Earlier this month, extreme weather conditions, including a powerful thunderstorm and strong winds, resulted in multiple casualties in the city.
The PMD further stated that widespread rain is expected in northern and northwestern regions, including parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. In Punjab, cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad are also likely to receive rainfall between March 25 and 30.
Authorities have advised citizens to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and take precautionary measures, especially in areas prone to flooding and strong winds.
