Xiaomi has officially introduced the Redmi 15R in China, which is essentially a rebranded version of the Redmi 15 5G recently announced for the Indian market.
The budget-friendly smartphone brings strong specifications at an affordable price, aiming to attract users looking for performance and durability without breaking the bank.
In India, the Redmi 15 5G is set to go on sale from August 28, with prices starting at INR 14,999 for the 6GB + 128GB model, INR 15,999 for the 8GB + 128GB version, and INR 16,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant. Meanwhile, in China, the Redmi 15R will be available at CNY 1,499 (~$210) for the 8GB + 256GB variant, CNY 1,899 (~$265) for the 12GB + 256GB model, and CNY 2,199 (~$305) for the top-tier 12GB + 512GB configuration.
The smartphone features a 6.9-inch FHD+ LCD display with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, though the bezels are slightly thicker compared to premium competitors. Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, paired with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 2, ensuring reliable performance. Xiaomi has also committed to two years of OS updates and four years of security patches, extending the device’s longevity.
One of the standout features is its massive 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, supported by 33W fast charging and 18W reverse wired charging. Xiaomi claims this battery technology retains 80% of its health even after four years of usage, making it one of the most durable batteries in the segment.
Photography is handled by a 50MP rear camera, while additional features include IP64 dust and splash resistance and Dolby-certified audio for an enhanced multimedia experience.
With its large battery, strong performance, and competitive pricing, the Redmi 15R/Redmi 15 5G is shaping up to be a compelling option in the mid-range smartphone market. Xiaomi’s rebranding strategy ensures that both Indian and Chinese consumers get access to the same powerful device under different names.
