Xiaomi Recalls 30,000 SU7 Over Parking Glitch

Xiaomi-SU7

Xiaomi, the renowned Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has announced a recall of 30,931 units of its popular SU7 electric sedan. The recall addresses a malfunction identified in the vehicle’s autonomous parking system.

This recall impacts vehicles produced between February and November 2024, with Xiaomi opting for an over-the-air (OTA) software update to resolve the issue.

The decision came after an incident reported in November 2024, where an SU7 owner encountered unexpected behavior during autonomous parking, causing minor vehicle damage.

A subsequent investigation identified a timing synchronization flaw in the cloud service managing the parking system, which occasionally disrupted its functionality.

Measures to Resolve the Issue

To rectify the problem, Xiaomi has taken the following steps:

Cloud Service Improvements: Enhanced timing synchronization protocols in the cloud service to eliminate potential disruptions.

Reinforced Safety Features: Added redundant safety measures to bolster the smart parking assistance system.

Xiaomi has rigorously tested these updates to ensure reliability. The OTA update will be rolled out to all affected vehicles, enabling owners to update their systems remotely without needing a visit to the service center.
