New Kunlun Range Extender supports multiple fuel grades as Xiaomi prepares to unveil its Skynomad SUV lineup on July 30.

Xiaomi Auto has disclosed fresh details about its upcoming Skynomad range-extended electric vehicle (EREV) lineup ahead of a technical presentation scheduled for July 30, 2026.

The Chinese automaker revealed key specifications of its new Kunlun Range Extender system, highlighting fuel efficiency, engine performance, and support for multiple gasoline grades.

The Skynomad series will be powered by the newly developed Xiaomi Kunlun Range Extender, which forms part of the broader Kunlun Architecture.

The company plans to showcase the Kunlun platform, Super Range Extender technology, and advanced safety systems during its upcoming presentation.

At the heart of the system is a 1.5-liter turbocharged M15DRE engine developed in collaboration with Harbin Dongan Auto Engine.

The range extender delivers a maximum output of 112 kW and is compatible with 92, 95, and 98 octane gasoline. Xiaomi claims the system can achieve a minimum WLTC-depleted fuel consumption figure of just 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers, making it one of the more efficient EREV setups in its segment.

The automaker is also offering an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty on the range extender and electric drive components.

Maintenance requirements have been designed to reduce ownership costs, with servicing scheduled every three years or 30,000 kilometers after the initial inspection.

Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun also shared testing updates for the Skynomad N90 Max. According to him, a prototype identified as KV235 has completed more than 60,000 kilometers of road testing since January 2026.

The vehicle has undergone evaluation across multiple Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming, and Haikou.

Regulatory filings show that the N90 Max measures 5,285 mm in length and offers both five-seat and seven-seat configurations. It combines the 112 kW range extender with dual electric motors producing 210 kW and 100 kW. A 76 kWh battery pack provides a WLTC pure-electric driving range of between 363 and 370 kilometers.

Meanwhile, the smaller N70 Max SUV offers multiple battery and drivetrain options, with electric-only range figures reaching up to 380 kilometers depending on configuration.

The Skynomad lineup will become Xiaomi Auto’s second major vehicle family alongside the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV. The company sold 34,738 vehicles in June 2026, reflecting strong growth as it prepares to expand its presence in China’s competitive new-energy vehicle market. Pricing and final specifications for the Skynomad models are expected to be announced at the July 30 Kunlun Architecture event.
