Xiaomi is gearing up to expand its Turbo smartphone lineup in 2026, and the first launch may arrive sooner than expected.
Following the success of the Redmi Turbo 4 series last year, the company has officially teased its next performance-focused model — the Redmi Turbo 5 Max — promising major upgrades in speed, efficiency, and battery endurance.
According to Xiaomi’s teaser announcement, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will be positioned as the fastest smartphone with the best battery performance in the CNY 2,500 price category. This price point roughly converts to $360, €305, or ₹32,500, although final international pricing is typically higher than direct currency conversions.
While Xiaomi has not yet confirmed full hardware details, early leaks suggest that the Redmi Turbo 5 lineup will feature a refreshed design with metal frames, rounded corners, and larger displays compared to last year’s models. The series is also expected to be powered by MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 8-series and 9-series chipsets, offering a strong balance of flagship-level speed and energy efficiency.
Reports indicate that the standard Redmi Turbo 5 may come equipped with the Dimensity 8500 chipset, while the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro is rumored to feature the Dimensity 9500e, along with 100W fast charging support. The Pro model is also expected to include a 1.5K LTPS OLED display and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for enhanced security.
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max, however, is shaping up to be the most powerful device in the lineup. Industry sources claim it may ship with a Dimensity 9500s processor — a modified variant of the Dimensity 9400+ platform — positioning it as a true performance flagship within its price bracket. The “Max” branding also hints at a larger battery capacity and potentially improved thermal performance for sustained high-speed gaming and multitasking.
Last year’s Redmi Turbo 4 Pro launched globally as the Poco F7, leading to speculation that the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro could debut internationally as the Poco F8. Whether the Turbo 5 Max will also receive a Poco-branded variant remains to be seen.
With reports suggesting an official launch later this month, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max could be the first model in the new Turbo lineup to hit the market — setting the tone for Xiaomi’s performance smartphone strategy in 2026.
