Xiaomi is set to make waves in the electric vehicle market as CEO Lei Jun officially confirms the launch of the highly anticipated Xiaomi YU7 SUV by the end of June.
This launch marks the tech giant’s second venture into electric vehicles and its first electric SUV, positioning Xiaomi as a serious contender in the EV segment.
The YU7 will be accompanied by the unveiling of the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, powered by the high-performance Xuanjie O1 chip.
Bold Design and Competitive Dimensions
The Xiaomi YU7 takes design cues from its sibling, the Xiaomi SU7 sedan, including sleek “waterdrop” headlights and “halo” LED taillights for a unified and modern look.
The SUV’s bold dimensions—4999mm in length, 1996mm in width, and 1600mm in height—along with a 3000mm wheelbase, place it head-to-head with rivals like the Tesla Model Y, offering a premium feel and commanding road presence.
Advanced Safety with High-Strength Structure
Xiaomi has equipped the YU7 with top-tier safety features. The SUV incorporates 2200MPa ultra-high-strength steel in its side beams, enhancing crash resistance.
The front door’s load-bearing ability is increased by 52.4%, while energy absorption improves by 40.2%. Rear door stats are also impressive, with a 37.6% rise in load-bearing capacity and a 25.4% improvement in impact absorption—ensuring class-leading protection in side collisions.
High-Tech Cockpit and Autonomous Driving Features
At the core of the YU7 is the Nvidia Drive AGX Thor platform, offering a powerful 700 TOPS of computing power. Standard features include LiDAR, 4D radar, and seven anti-glare cameras, supporting advanced driver assistance and future self-driving functionalities.
Inside, Xiaomi introduces a “dual-zone surround luxury cockpit” featuring the Xiaomi Horizon Screen Panoramic Display. This consists of three Mini LED displays creating a 1.1-meter wide projection with customizable display cards. Rear passengers also benefit from a mobile screen interface for added convenience.
Powerful Performance and Long Range
The YU7 will be offered in single-motor and dual-motor variants. The top-tier model delivers a powerful 681 hp and reaches speeds up to 253 km/h.
Battery options include CATL-supplied NMC and LFP cells, offering ranges of 835 km (standard), 770 km (Pro), and 760 km (Max) with 96.3 kWh and 101.7 kWh capacities.
With an estimated starting price of 250,000 yuan (approx. $34,750), the Xiaomi YU7 stands as a value-packed electric SUV ready to disrupt the global EV market with its bold design, cutting-edge features, and long driving range.
