The Chinese electric two-wheeler manufacturer is exploring local production in Punjab, with the proposed facility potentially catering to domestic demand and export markets.
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Yadea Technology Group is considering establishing an electric motorcycle manufacturing plant in Punjab, a move that could strengthen Pakistan’s growing electric mobility sector. The proposed investment would expand the company’s existing presence in the country by potentially introducing local manufacturing alongside its current sales and distribution operations.
The investment proposal was discussed during a meeting in Lahore between Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Yadea Technology Global Group Chairman Qiu Xin Yang. The discussions focused on investment opportunities in electric mobility and the potential establishment of a manufacturing facility in the province.
Punjab Offers Support for Manufacturing Investment
According to reports, Yadea representatives indicated that the proposed plant could serve Pakistan’s domestic electric two-wheeler market while also supporting exports to international markets.
The Punjab government has offered assistance to facilitate the project and encouraged the company to consider establishing its facility in one of the province’s Special Economic Zones. Yadea was also invited to explore investment opportunities in electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
However, the company has not announced the proposed investment amount, manufacturing capacity, final plant location or expected production schedule. The project remains at the investment-discussion stage, with further details dependent on subsequent developments.
Yadea Already Operates in Pakistan
Yadea already has a presence in Pakistan through its electric motorcycle sales network, which covers major cities including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Karachi.
The company’s local operations have also focused on improving customer confidence through after-sales services and warranty coverage. Earlier in 2026, the local distributor extended the warranty for Yadea models equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries to four years or 50,000 kilometres.
Establishing a manufacturing facility could represent a significant expansion of the brand’s operations, potentially bringing parts of its supply chain closer to Pakistani consumers.
Fast-Charging Technology Highlighted
During the meeting, Yadea representatives also highlighted the company’s fast-charging electric motorcycle technology. The manufacturer has invested in battery development and charging solutions, including fast-charging systems and sodium-ion battery technology.
Yadea operates manufacturing facilities across several international markets, including China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Mexico.
Potential Impact on Pakistan’s EV Market
If the proposal advances, local manufacturing could improve spare parts availability, support employment and create opportunities for domestic component suppliers. Greater localization could also reduce dependence on imported complete electric motorcycles.
For now, the key developments to watch are the investment commitment, factory location, production capacity and operational timeline. These details will determine the project’s potential contribution to Pakistan’s electric two-wheeler industry.
