Cameron Young etched his name into the PGA Tour history books by recording the 13th sub-60 round during the third round of the Travelers Championship on Saturday.

The 27-year-old American golfer achieved an impressive 11-under-par 59 at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Young’s exceptional performance included sinking a critical 10-foot par putt on the final hole, securing his place as the 12th golfer in PGA Tour history to break the 60-stroke barrier.

This remarkable achievement places him alongside legendary players, with Jim Furyk being the only golfer to have done it twice. Young is the first player to join this elite club since Scottie Scheffler achieved the feat at TPC Boston in 2020.

During his bogey-free round, Young displayed exceptional skill and precision, tallying two eagles and seven birdies. His score fell just one stroke short of Furyk’s record 58, also set at TPC River Highlands in 2016. Reflecting on his historic round, Young expressed his excitement and perspective on the achievement.

“It’s certainly pretty cool,” said Young, currently ranked 23rd in the world. Despite having four professional wins, Young is still in pursuit of his first PGA Tour victory. “It’s fun to have your name on a list that short, but there are some full tournaments that I probably would rank above it in terms of overall achievement.”

Young’s performance on Saturday was a significant improvement from his previous rounds, having shot a 66 on Friday. His prior best on the PGA Tour was a 62, recorded at the Genesis Invitational in 2022.

As the tournament heads into the final round, South Korea’s Tony Kim holds a narrow lead after a solid five-under-par 65. World number one Scottie Scheffler and rising star Akshay Bhatia are just one shot behind, setting the stage for an exciting finish at TPC River Highlands.

This stunning round by Young not only showcases his talent but also adds a thrilling chapter to the Travelers Championship. Golf enthusiasts eagerly await the final round to see if Young can carry this momentum forward and clinch his maiden PGA Tour victory.
