Zayn Malik has shared a personal health update with fans on the day of the release of his new album KONNAKOL, saying he is still recovering after a difficult week that forced him to miss promotional appearances.

Taking to Instagram Stories on April 17, the former One Direction singer posted a message from what appeared to be a hospital bed, expressing gratitude to fans while apologising for his absence from scheduled events.

“To my fans — thank you to all of you for your love & support now & always — been a long week and am still unexpectedly recovering,” Malik wrote.

He added that he was “heartbroken” not to be able to meet fans during album release week. “I wouldn’t be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding,” he said.

Malik also thanked hospital staff for their care, naming doctors, nurses, cardiologists, management and administrative teams. “You are all legends!” he wrote.

The singer concluded the message with: “Big big love xx z.”

The update follows Malik’s withdrawal from a scheduled Q&A event at Circuit in Kingston on short notice, as well as the postponement of a planned April 13 appearance, both of which were rescheduled for fans.

KONNAKOL, Malik’s fifth studio album, released on April 17, is being described as his most South Asian-influenced project to date, reflecting a stronger incorporation of regional musical elements compared to his earlier work.

The 31-year-old artist has not disclosed further details regarding his condition, and representatives have not issued additional comment.

Fans flooded social media with messages of support following his post, with many expressing concern for his health alongside excitement for the new album release.
