Zeekr X SUV Receives Major Powertrain Upgrade

Zeekr

Zeekr has introduced an upgraded version of its all-electric Zeekr X compact SUV, bringing notable improvements in performance while retaining its sleek and practical design.

The latest update strengthens Zeekr’s competitive edge in the fast-growing electric vehicle (EV) market.

While the exterior styling of the Zeekr X remains largely unchanged, the real advancement lies under the hood with new, more powerful powertrain options.

Enhanced RWD Performance

The refreshed rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model now comes with a 250 kW (335 hp) electric motor, a major step up from the previous 200 kW (268 hp) unit.

This upgrade delivers a more responsive and engaging driving experience, making it particularly appealing to enthusiasts who prefer RWD configurations.

The RWD variant is powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, known for its durability, safety, and cost efficiency.

High-Powered AWD Variant

For drivers seeking maximum power, the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version offers a combined output of 365 kW (489 hp). This figure is achieved through the integration of a 250 kW rear motor with an additional 115 kW (154 hp) motor on the front axle. To support this higher performance, the AWD variant uses a ternary lithium battery, which provides greater energy density and enables rapid acceleration.

Design and Dimensions

Despite the performance upgrades, the Zeekr X retains its distinctive dimensions with a 4450mm length and a 2750mm wheelbase, ensuring practicality for urban and suburban use.

Its eye-catching design details remain, including 56-LED daytime running lights, a large 1.21 m² panoramic sunroof, and a bold 1.5 m taillight with 229 LEDs, giving the SUV a premium and futuristic appearance.

Price and Market Performance

With a starting price of 149,000 yuan (approximately $20,900 USD) in China, the Zeekr X continues to deliver a strong mix of affordability, technology, and performance.

Its rising popularity is evident, with 4,611 units sold in 2025 up to August, reflecting consumer confidence in the model.

Conclusion

The latest update ensures the Zeekr X remains a strong contender in the compact EV SUV segment.

By offering enhanced powertrain options without compromising on design or practicality, Zeekr is positioning the X as a well-rounded choice for buyers looking for performance, safety, and style in one package.
