Zendaya has opened up about her memorable experience filming in Scotland alongside fiancé Tom Holland for their upcoming historical drama, The Odyssey.
The project, directed by Christopher Nolan, also stars Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway and was shot across breathtaking Scottish locations, including Findlater Castle and Culbin Sands.
In an interview with the Sunday Mail, the Euphoria star expressed how much she valued her time in the highland capital, where she and Holland were able to enjoy a sense of normalcy. “I really loved my time in Inverness. It’s such a beautiful city,” Zendaya said. “Of course, we were there for work, but during downtime, we were able to do simple, everyday things. The locals were incredibly welcoming and gave us the space to just be ourselves.”
The 28-year-old actress, who has Scottish roots, also discussed the possibility of embracing a Scottish accent for a future role. Zendaya shared, “My mom is proud of our Scottish heritage. I’ve said before I’d only take on a Scottish role if I could truly nail the accent and make it feel authentic.” She added that mastering the accent would carry personal significance, connecting her to her family’s history.
The Odyssey, a highly anticipated epic, follows the legendary journey of the ancient Greek king of Ithaca returning home after the Trojan War. With Nolan at the helm and Zendaya in a key role, the film is scheduled for a worldwide release on July 17, 2026.
