Actress reveals a Spider-Man quote has become a favourite joke between the newly married couple ahead of their next film
Zendaya has delighted fans by sharing a light-hearted glimpse into her married life with Tom Holland, revealing that a memorable line from their first Spider-Man film has become an ongoing joke between the couple.
Speaking during an interview with BBC Radio 1 on July 1 while promoting their upcoming film, the actress said she frequently teases Holland by repeating the line, “You really screwed the pooch on that one.”
Before quoting it, Zendaya laughed and looked towards her husband, joking, “You’re gonna be like, ‘No, you don’t!’”
Holland smiled and confirmed the playful habit, replying, “Yeah, you do say that a lot.”
A memorable improvised line
The phrase first appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming, where it was delivered by Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., after Peter Parker made a mistake.
Holland revealed that the line was not part of the original screenplay and was improvised during filming.
“It was a really interesting ad lib, but it’s a great line, and it works in the movie,” he said.
The actor also admitted that he had no idea what the expression meant when Downey first said it on set.
Behind the scenes at home
Zendaya also offered another charming insight into their relationship, saying Holland enjoys recounting every detail of his day on set after returning home.
According to the actress, he enthusiastically recreates scenes, explains how filming unfolded and shares stories from the day’s shoot while she happily listens.
The couple’s playful exchange has been warmly received by fans, who have followed their relationship since they first appeared together in the Spider-Man franchise.
Reuniting on the big screen
Zendaya and Holland are set to reunite as MJ and Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled for release in cinemas on 31 July.
The upcoming film marks another chapter in the popular superhero franchise and reunites one of Hollywood’s most admired on-screen and off-screen couples.
