Zendaya has urged fans to revisit previous Spider-Man and Avengers films before watching Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying the latest instalment will have greater emotional impact for audiences familiar with Peter Parker’s journey.

Speaking during a recent premiere in Amsterdam, the actress, who reprises her role as MJ in the upcoming Marvel film, recommended viewers refresh their memories of the franchise before heading to cinemas.

“I would say, watch all of our Spider-Man’s previous, just to keep you caught up,” Zendaya said when asked what fans should do before seeing the new film.

She added that viewers should also revisit “a couple of Avengers movies” to fully understand the story leading into Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

“And then, bring some tissues… we go there,” she teased, hinting at the film’s emotional storyline.

The upcoming release marks Tom Holland’s seventh appearance as Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His previous appearances include Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Holland first joined the Marvel franchise after being cast as Spider-Man in 2015, making his on-screen debut in Captain America: Civil War the following year.

Zendaya joined the series as Michelle “MJ” Jones in Spider-Man: Homecoming, becoming one of the franchise’s central characters alongside Holland.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide on July 31, continuing Peter Parker’s story following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Marvel Studios has yet to reveal full plot details, but the film also features returning cast members alongside several new additions to the franchise.
