Zong 4G has announced that it will discontinue several Value-Added Services (VAS) starting September 15, 2025.

The telecom operator informed its customers through SMS, stating that the decision is part of service optimization to enhance the overall user experience.

According to the notification, the following services will no longer be available after the mentioned date:

Daily MusiCall Service (500)

Dedication Services (1700)

EID Greeting (5676)

EID Messenger (34519)

Free SMS (112)

Islam Seekhiye IVR

Karachi Stock Exchange Updates (573)

Paktel Cricket Club (309)

The message was delivered to customers through SMS, where Zong also thanked users for availing these services over the years and encouraged them to contact customer care for queries. The operator clarified that this change will not affect regular mobile packages such as voice, SMS, and data bundles, which will continue without interruption.

The discontinuation highlights Zong’s move towards phasing out traditional VAS-based offerings that were once popular among subscribers. With the rise of smartphones, social media platforms, and modern apps, services like SMS greetings, IVR-based content, and stock exchange updates have gradually become less relevant to today’s digital users.

Industry experts believe that telecom companies in Pakistan are increasingly shifting focus towards high-speed data services, streaming bundles, and digital financial solutions. This change reflects evolving consumer demand, where customers prefer internet-based platforms over legacy VAS.

Despite the discontinuation, Zong continues to expand its portfolio of modern services. The company recently introduced attractive monthly packages such as the Monthly Pro Max Plus, offering 200GB of data, unlimited calls, and free access to Golootlo, Waada Insurance, and Zong TV.

By retiring older services and introducing new ones, Zong aims to streamline its offerings and meet the needs of a tech-savvy generation. Customers who previously relied on these services are encouraged to explore alternative digital solutions now widely available across app stores and online platforms.

This decision signals the end of an era for traditional Zong value-added services, making way for innovative features aligned with Pakistan’s growing digital transformation.
