Islamabad, October 9, 2025 – Amazon’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) initiative, Project Kuiper, has announced plans to launch satellite broadband services in Pakistan by the end of 2026, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital transformation.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) revealed this development following a strategic meeting between Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja and the Amazon Project Kuiper delegation. The project, a multi-billion-dollar global investment, aims to expand high-speed internet access worldwide, focusing particularly on underserved and remote regions.

“Project Kuiper’s entry into Pakistan is a step forward in advancing digital inclusion and strengthening our connectivity ecosystem,” said the Federal Minister. “These investments align with the Government’s vision of building a Digital Nation Pakistan, where every citizen, regardless of geography, has access to fast, affordable, and secure internet services.”

To support reliable connectivity, the Kuiper team plans to establish ground infrastructure, including gateways and points of presence (PoPs), across the country. Leveraging a constellation of up to 3,236 satellites, the initiative is designed to provide high-performance broadband, offering speeds up to 400 Mbps through affordable terminals.

Experts believe that the introduction of satellite broadband will create new opportunities for Pakistan’s IT sector by enhancing connectivity, fostering innovation, and bridging the digital divide. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating global partnerships that contribute to the Prime Minister’s vision of a modern, connected, and inclusive Digital Pakistan.

With Amazon’s Project Kuiper, Pakistan is set to join the global wave of satellite-powered internet, enabling faster communication, improved business efficiency, and greater access to digital services, even in the most remote corners of the country.
