DHAKA, April 17, 2026 — Bangladesh will host Pakistan and Australia in a packed home season, featuring a two-match Test series followed by limited-overs contests, as the team looks to improve its standing in international cricket.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed the schedule for a two-Test series against Pakistan, part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). The first Test will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from May 8 to 12, while the second match is scheduled at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from May 16 to 20.
Bangladesh currently sit eighth in the nine-team WTC standings and will view the series against Pakistan as an important opportunity to gain valuable points after their struggles in recent campaigns, including a series loss to Sri Lanka last year.
Following the red-ball fixtures, Bangladesh will shift focus to white-ball cricket with a home series against Australia in June. The two sides will compete in three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) followed by three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), although venues for the matches are yet to be announced.
The ODI series will begin on June 9, with subsequent matches scheduled for June 11 and June 14. The T20I leg will start on June 17 and conclude on June 21.
The upcoming contests are expected to provide Bangladesh with critical preparation as they build towards the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027. With Australia among the top-ranked teams in limited-overs formats, the series presents a stern test for the hosts.
Cricket analysts said the home advantage could play a key role for Bangladesh, particularly in Test conditions, but consistency across formats will be crucial as they seek to rebuild momentum.
The series also underscores a demanding international calendar for Bangladesh, with back-to-back fixtures requiring careful squad management and strong performances against two formidable opponents.
