Majority complaints filed against large banks
Banking Mohtasib Pakistan on Tuesday said around 66 percent of banking complaints received during calendar year 2025 were filed against large-sized banks.
According to the BMP Annual Report 2025, banking consumers lodged 23,056 complaints against large banks out of a total 35,130 complaints received during the year.
Large banks received highest number of complaints
The report identified the following institutions among large-sized banks:
• Allied Bank Limited
• Bank Alfalah Limited
• Habib Bank Limited
• Meezan Bank Limited
• MCB Bank Limited
• National Bank of Pakistan
• United Bank Limited
Medium-sized banks also receive complaints
The BMP said 7,345 complaints were filed against medium-sized banks during 2025.
These included:
• AlBaraka Bank Pakistan Limited
• Askari Bank Limited
• Bank AL Habib Limited
• The Bank of Khyber
• The Bank of Punjab
• Bank Makramah Limited
• Faysal Bank Limited
• Habib Metropolitan Bank Limited
• Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan
Complaints against small and digital banks
According to the report, 2,965 complaints were received against small-sized banks.
The BMP also received 1,505 complaints against digital banks and 258 complaints under other categories.
The report further revealed that 25,084 complaints were filed against conventional and commercial banks, while 8,286 complaints were lodged against Islamic banks.
Another 1,763 complaints related to digital banks and microfinance institutions.
Rising complaints linked to digital banking growth
Banking experts said the rising number of complaints reflects increasing usage of digital banking channels and mobile financial services across Pakistan.
The BMP has advised banking customers to remain cautious while using digital platforms and avoid sharing confidential banking information with unauthorized persons.
