CDNS targets Rs1.53 trillion in savings mobilisation for FY2026-27

National Savings aims to expand formal investment, Islamic finance options and financial inclusion after meeting its previous annual target.

The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) has established a savings mobilisation target of Rs1.53 trillion for fiscal year 2026-27, as the government-backed institution seeks to strengthen domestic savings and expand access to secure investment opportunities.

The new target comes after CDNS successfully mobilised Rs1.384 trillion during FY2025-26, meeting its annual goal between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. The performance highlights continued demand for low-risk savings products despite changing economic conditions and increasing competition across Pakistan’s financial sector.

Focus on Financial Inclusion

CDNS is now looking to broaden participation in formal savings schemes by encouraging households to develop stronger saving habits. The institution also aims to provide individuals with reliable options for long-term financial planning while increasing the pool of domestic resources available to the government.

Officials have attributed the organisation’s recent performance to institutional reforms, improved operational efficiency, digital transformation and customer-focused initiatives. These measures have also helped make National Savings services more accessible to investors across the country.

Islamic Savings Products Gain Attention

Product diversification remains another key area for CDNS. During FY2025-26, the institution allocated Rs60 billion for Islamic savings instruments, offering investors Shariah-compliant alternatives and supporting the development of Pakistan’s Islamic finance market.

In FY2024-25, CDNS had set an overall mobilisation target of Rs1.65 trillion, including Rs170 billion for Islamic finance products. The figures underline its efforts to expand investment choices and reach a wider segment of the population.

Strong Mobilisation Record

CDNS has maintained a solid mobilisation record in recent years. It collected Rs1.742 trillion in FY2023-24, exceeding its Rs1.7 trillion target, while achieving the Rs1.6 trillion target set for FY2022-23.

In FY2021-22, the initial Rs1.3 trillion target was revised upward to Rs1.4 trillion following stronger-than-expected mobilisation and improved market conditions.

For FY2026-27, CDNS expects its Rs1.53 trillion target to further promote Pakistan’s savings culture. Greater participation in formal savings schemes could strengthen domestic resource mobilisation while giving citizens more secure avenues for investment.

The institution is expected to continue prioritising digital services, product diversification and financial inclusion as it seeks to reinforce its role in Pakistan’s savings and investment landscape.
