Chilly Forecast for Pakistan Tourist Destinations on March 6

Islamabad, March 5, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting exceptionally cold temperatures for the country’s popular tourist destinations on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

According to the PMD, very cold and partly cloudy conditions are expected in most tourist spots on Tuesday. However, the forecast indicates the likelihood of cloudy weather accompanied by rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over hills in destinations such as Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Kaghan, Naran, Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Malam Jabba, Saidu Sharif, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Murree, and Galliyat from Wednesday to Friday.

Ziarat and adjoining areas are expected to experience rain, wind, thunderstorm, and snow on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Following this, very cold and dry weather is anticipated from Thursday through Saturday.

The nationwide weather forecast for Wednesday, March 6, 2024, indicates cold and dry conditions in most parts of the country, with particularly very cold temperatures in the northern regions. Cloudy weather, accompanied by rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall over hills, is expected at isolated places in north/southwest Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, the PMD anticipates cold and dry weather across most parts of the country, with particularly very cold conditions in the northern regions. Rain, wind, thunderstorm, and snowfall over hills are expected in north/southwest Balochistan.

Regarding the synoptic situation, the PMD reports that continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country, with a westerly wave affecting the western parts of Balochistan.

Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather has prevailed in most parts of the country, with very cold conditions in the upper regions. Isolated places in north/southwest Balochistan experienced rain, with Panjgur recording 1 mm of rainfall.

The recorded lowest minimum temperatures for today are as follows (°C): Kalam -13, Leh -12, Astore -06, Skardu, Kalat -04, Dir, Malam Jabba, Chitral, Murree, and Mir Khani -03.
