Chinese firm eyes investment in Pakistan connectivity projects

Shandong Hi-Speed Group explores opportunities in transport, logistics and infrastructure development.

A Chinese infrastructure company has expressed interest in investing in Pakistan’s transport, logistics and connectivity sectors, signalling continued investor interest in projects aimed at improving the country’s infrastructure.

The interest was conveyed by Shandong Hi-Speed Group Chairman Xu Xiang during a meeting with Minister for Board of Investment (BOI) Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh, according to an official statement.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed potential investment opportunities in Pakistan’s transport, logistics and connectivity projects, which are considered key to improving trade and economic integration.

Minister Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh welcomed the company’s interest and assured the delegation of the government’s full support in facilitating foreign investment.

He said the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Board of Investment (BOI) would provide institutional support and necessary facilitation to help advance potential investment proposals.

The minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and encouraging international investors to participate in infrastructure development and other priority sectors.

Shandong Hi-Speed Group is one of China’s leading infrastructure and construction companies, with experience in highways, bridges, logistics and transportation projects in multiple countries.

The expression of interest comes as Pakistan continues to seek foreign investment in strategic sectors, including transport infrastructure, logistics networks and regional connectivity, to support economic growth and enhance trade links.
