Actor showcases his new cooking hobby while Netflix prepares to begin filming the upcoming action-comedy with Kevin Hart.
Henry Cavill has given fans a glimpse into his life away from Hollywood, sharing a personal update on social media just as production prepares to begin on his upcoming Netflix film Spy Duo.
The Man of Steel star took to Instagram on Monday to reveal his latest hobby, posting a series of photos featuring his new offset smoker and the results of his first attempt at slow-smoking beef.
Cavill described the smoker as his “new toy” and admitted that learning how to use it had been more challenging than he expected.
“Took my new toy for a test run yesterday! Using this beast is my first time offset smoking, so has quite the learning curve!” the actor wrote.
He explained that he prepared a rump roast for pulled beef using oak smoke and a black seasoning rub before wrapping the meat in foil with beef stock to complete the cooking process.
Although he was pleased with the flavour, Cavill acknowledged there was still room for improvement.
“I’ve got so much to learn, but this turned out ok,” he said, adding that he forgot to take photographs before cooking because he was focused on managing the fire.
The actor also joked about spending nearly 12 hours tending the smoker without even enjoying a beer, promising fans he would “do better next time.”
Cavill’s social media update came shortly after reports emerged that his next Netflix film, Spy Duo, is preparing to enter production.
According to Collider, citing What’s On Netflix, filming is expected to begin in August and continue through November.
The action-comedy stars Cavill alongside Kevin Hart as rival secret agents whose lives become unexpectedly connected after their wives meet during childbirth classes.
As their professional rivalry collides with their growing family responsibilities, the pair are forced to work together while navigating dangerous missions and preparing for fatherhood.
The project was first announced in May 2026 and marks another high-profile collaboration between Netflix and Cavill, who continues to expand his portfolio following successful roles in The Witcher, Enola Holmes, and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
While fans await more details about Spy Duo, Cavill’s latest Instagram post offered a lighter look at the actor’s passion for outdoor cooking, proving he is just as enthusiastic about mastering barbecue techniques as he is about taking on action-packed roles.
