Enforcement officials recover rifles, pistols, magazines and thousands of rounds after a driver abandons a vehicle during an interception.
Customs Enforcement staff at Joint Check Post (JCP) Yarik have seized a substantial consignment of arms and ammunition valued at approximately Rs32 million. The operation also resulted in the confiscation of the vehicle allegedly being used to transport the weapons.
According to officials, the seizure was carried out following credible intelligence regarding the movement of an arms shipment. Customs personnel intercepted the suspected vehicle at Sidra Sharif as part of their enforcement action.
However, the driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and escaped from the scene before officials could take him into custody. Authorities have since launched efforts to identify and apprehend the individual involved.
Rifles and Pistols Among Seized Weapons
The recovered consignment included a wide variety of firearms and accessories. Customs officials seized four US-made M4 rifles chambered in 5.56mm, along with two G-III rifles and one magazine.
The haul also contained 42 Maghull PMAG D-60 magazines, 20 empty M4 magazines and 40 empty AK-47 magazines. These items were recovered alongside several types of pistols originating from different manufacturers and countries.
Officials reported the seizure of 18 Turkish-made Tissa Zigara pistols, each accompanied by two magazines. The consignment further included 30 Beretta pistols, comprising 25 US-made and five Italian-made weapons.
In addition, enforcement personnel recovered two unmarked shot pistols and 120 Chinese-made 30-bore pistols. The quantity and variety of firearms made the seizure a significant development in ongoing customs enforcement operations.
Thousands of Ammunition Rounds Confiscated
The ammunition recovered during the operation included 900 AK-47 rounds identified as 711/10, along with an additional 2,700 AK-47 rounds.
Customs staff also seized 3,500 rounds of 30-bore pistol ammunition and 1,600 12-bore Pak Shaheen cartridges. The recovered ammunition was taken into official custody along with the firearms and vehicle.
Legal Proceedings Initiated
The seized weapons, ammunition and vehicle have been placed under official custody. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings under the relevant laws in connection with the recovery.
Meanwhile, efforts are continuing to trace the driver who fled during the interception. Further developments are expected as investigators examine the consignment and work to determine its intended destination and the circumstances surrounding its transportation.
