Originally beginning his career at Atletico Madrid, De Gea joined Manchester United in 2011 for a transfer fee of £18.9 million. The announcement of his departure coincides with manager Erik ten Hag’s pursuit of Inter Milan’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

In his farewell message, De Gea acknowledged the numerous accomplishments he attained at Manchester United, including winning the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Europa League, and two Carabao Cups.

He expressed immense pride in representing the club and assured that Manchester will forever hold a special place in his heart.

The decision for De Gea’s departure stemmed from a modification in the previously agreed contract extension between the player and the club.

Consequently, both parties reconsidered the situation, leading to his departure. Although there have been speculations linking De Gea to the Saudi Pro League, no official destination has been confirmed yet.

As De Gea embarks on a new challenge, he seeks to push himself in a fresh environment following his successful tenure at Manchester United.
