Shericka Jackson made headlines at Jamaica’s national championships, cementing her place in the upcoming World Championships. Jackson’s outstanding performance in the 100m event not only earned her victory but also etched her name as the fifth fastest woman in history.

In a remarkable display of speed, Jackson blazed across the finish line in a remarkable time of 10.65 seconds, surpassing Sha’Carri Richardson’s previous world-leading time of 10.71 seconds at the US Championships. This achievement now places Jackson alongside American sprinter Marion Jones in the fifth spot on the all-time list.

Despite her extraordinary feat, Jackson remains committed to enhancing her race even further. Recognizing areas for improvement, particularly in her finishing, she plans to collaborate with her coach to refine her technique. Nonetheless, she expressed satisfaction with her overall performance, affirming that she executed her race exceptionally well.

While Jackson’s time is not yet at the level of Florence Griffith-Joyner’s world record of 10.49 seconds set in 1988, her victory at the national championships guarantees her participation in the forthcoming World Championships to be held in Budapest in August.
