The British pop star is pursuing legal action against Samsung, alleging the company used her photograph on television packaging without permission and risked implying an endorsement.
British singer Dua Lipa is continuing her $15 million legal battle against Samsung after the electronics giant sought to have her lawsuit dismissed.
The singer alleges that Samsung used her photograph on television boxes sold in the United States without her permission, potentially misleading customers into believing she had endorsed the company and its products.
According to the lawsuit, the photograph was taken backstage at the Austin City Limits music festival in 2024 before appearing on Samsung television packaging.
Dua’s legal team has opposed Samsung’s attempt to throw out the case, arguing that the singer carefully selects the brands she endorses. They contend that displaying her image on the company’s products could give consumers the impression that she had an official commercial relationship with Samsung.
Samsung has disputed the allegations, arguing that the photograph was intended to illustrate the entertainment available through its televisions. The company has also reportedly maintained that another business involved in the process assured it that the necessary permission had been obtained.
Dua is seeking at least $15 million in damages over the alleged unauthorised use of her image.
The dispute raises questions about celebrity image rights, commercial endorsements and the responsibilities of companies using photographs featuring high-profile personalities.
Samsung is scheduled to respond to the singer’s latest legal arguments on 13 November 2026, with a court hearing planned for 14 December.
The court has yet to determine the outcome, leaving the high-profile dispute unresolved.
