Dwayne Johnson has kicked off filming for the highly anticipated final installment of the Jumanji franchise — and he marked the milestone with a touching tribute to the late Robin Williams.
The Hollywood star, known for his role as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, shared an Instagram video on November 18, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at his first day on set in Los Angeles. Riding in a golf cart, Johnson expressed his excitement about returning to his hometown for production.
“I have not shot a movie in LA for some time, but it feels incredible to bring the production back home for a big, fun movie like Jumanji,” said the 53-year-old actor.
Johnson revealed a special detail about his costume for the upcoming film — a necklace featuring a dice piece taken from the original 1995 Jumanji, starring Robin Williams. “It’s my way of paying homage, love and respect to the great Robin Williams,” he shared, holding up the necklace. He captioned his post: “This one’s for you, Robin.”
Fans flooded the comment section with admiration. One wrote, “Such a dope tribute. I love the Jumanji movies.” Another added, “This gave me chills. Jumanji lives on because of the heart you pour into it.” Others echoed that Robin Williams “will never be forgotten.”
The upcoming film, directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Kasdan alongside Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, reunites the beloved cast from Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, including Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan.
Jumanji 4 is set to hit theatres in December 2026, promising an epic conclusion to the modern franchise while honoring its legendary origins.
