The tax authority says it is working with traders to resolve registration issues and ensure a smooth implementation of the simplified scheme.
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has said the Special Tax Scheme for Small Shopkeepers is currently in its initial implementation stages, with the tax authority working to facilitate traders and resolve practical and technical issues related to registration.
The FBR said the Government of Pakistan and the tax authority remain in regular contact with traders, market representatives and trade bodies to support the smooth, transparent and trader-friendly implementation of the scheme.
According to the Board, feedback received from the business community is being considered as the scheme progresses. Efforts are also under way to address genuine difficulties being faced by traders during the registration process.
The FBR has advised traders who encounter technical difficulties or other problems while registering under the scheme to approach the Board directly for assistance and guidance.
The tax authority said it is committed to providing the necessary facilitation to ensure eligible traders can complete registration without unnecessary difficulties.
The Special Tax Scheme forms part of the government’s efforts to bring small businesses into the documented tax system through what it describes as a simplified and facilitative framework.
The FBR said the scheme is intended to encourage voluntary tax compliance while providing greater certainty and ease of doing business for small shopkeepers.
The Board said continued engagement with traders and representative bodies would remain important as implementation moves forward. Feedback from the business community is expected to help identify and address issues emerging during the early stages of the registration process.
The government and FBR have also expressed confidence that continued cooperation from the trading community and trade bodies will help the scheme achieve its intended objectives.
The Board said the initiative is aimed at creating a more accessible framework for small traders to participate in the formal tax system while reducing difficulties associated with compliance.
The FBR’s latest statement comes as the authority continues efforts to facilitate eligible shopkeepers during the rollout of the Special Tax Scheme and address concerns raised by the business community.
