Mr. Pathan, Commissioner-IR (Zone-I) at Regional Tax Office Hyderabad, and Mr. Kalyar, Additional Commissioner-IR at Regional Tax Office Sargodha, have both been suspended for 120 days under Rule 5(1) of the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020. Additionally, two other BS-20 IRS officers have been repatriated to FBR Headquarters for investigation.

According to the FBR, the officials’ actions constitute a prima facie violation of Rules 23 and 26 of the Civil Servants (Conduct) Rules, 2026, and amount to misconduct. The board stressed that it maintains zero tolerance for disruptions to official duties.

During their suspension, both officers are required to report daily to the office of the Member (Admin/HR) at specific intervals—9:00 AM, 12:00 Noon, and 4:00 PM—and submit a daily time-diary. Formal disciplinary proceedings are underway as the administration moves to reinforce institutional discipline.
