Lahore, February 7, 2025 – In a landmark move toward sustainable transportation, Pakistan has inaugurated its first EV station in Lahore.
This significant step, taken in collaboration with the Chinese firm ADM Group and the Malik Group of Companies, marks the beginning of a nationwide shift toward electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
The inaugural ceremony, held on Zarar Shaheed Road in Lahore, saw the presence of distinguished personalities, including the Provincial Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Religious Affairs, Choudhry Shafay Hussain, who officiated the opening. Among the attendees were Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Chairman of Malik Group, and Yasir Bhambani, CEO of ADM Group, highlighting the strong partnership driving Pakistan’s EV sector forward.
During his address, Choudhry Shafay Hussain emphasized the urgency of transitioning to electric mobility, citing global warming as a critical concern. “The future of transportation is electric. Countries around the world are embracing EVs, and Pakistan must not lag behind. This EV station is a milestone that signifies our commitment to a greener and cleaner tomorrow,” he stated.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh, representing the Chinese partnership in Pakistan, revealed that 30 additional charging stations are en route from China and will be deployed nationwide within the next ten days. He confidently asserted that by the year’s end, a robust network of EV stations will be established across the country. The second charging station is set to be inaugurated in Karachi soon, marking another crucial step in expanding the infrastructure.
Yasir Bhambani, CEO of ADM Group, provided further insight into their extensive investment plan. He announced that ADM Group will allocate $90 million to install 3,000 EV stations across Pakistan, ensuring accessibility and convenience for EV owners. Furthermore, a $240 million investment will be directed toward setting up a vehicle manufacturing facility, with production expected to commence by December 2025.
The Chinese company has also committed to manufacturing 72,000 electric vehicles annually in Pakistan. These vehicles will not only cater to the domestic market but will also be exported to regions such as the Middle East, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The increasing presence of EV stations is expected to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The collaboration between the Pakistani and Chinese firms is a testament to the country’s commitment to clean energy solutions. With the Punjab and Sindh governments pledging their support, efforts are underway to establish a large-scale EV station and manufacturing plant in Karachi.
This initiative marks a transformative moment for Pakistan’s transportation sector, laying the groundwork for a sustainable and technologically advanced future.
