Furniture Council Calls for Interest-Free Loans to Boost Industry

In a bid to catalyze growth and innovation within the furniture manufacturing sector, the Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Chief Executive Officer, Mian Kashif Ashfaq, has urged the government to provide interest-free loans to furniture manufacturers for a period of five years.

Addressing a delegation of furniture producers, led by Mian Faryad Ahmad Raza, on Sunday, Mian Kashif emphasized the importance of facilitating furniture manufacturers with interest-free loans. He highlighted that such financial assistance would enable manufacturers to invest in new technology, thereby enhancing the overall infrastructure and competitiveness of the industry.

Furthermore, Mian Kashif stressed the need for the government to streamline existing markets while identifying new potential markets for ‘Made-in-Pakistan’ products. He pointed out regions such as the Far East, Central Asian Republics, Latin America, and Russia as promising markets for Pakistani furniture.

To support furniture manufacturers in navigating international markets, Mian Kashif called for the establishment of a “Marketing Intelligence Cell” at the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). This cell would provide valuable assistance to manufacturers and exporters by offering information on international demand trends, competitive pricing indices, market expansion opportunities, and other essential insights.

Encouraging local businessmen to play an active role in promoting the domestic furniture industry, Mian Kashif highlighted Pakistan’s abundant resources and skilled workforce, emphasizing their potential to contribute to the country’s development on modern lines.

Mian Kashif emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors to maximize access to international markets for locally manufactured furniture and accessories. He asserted that with government support and concerted efforts, the potential of the Pakistani furniture industry could be doubled within the next two to three years.

In addition to interest-free loans, Mian Kashif urged the government to provide support to the furniture business through grants for participating in trade shows and exhibitions. Such initiatives, he argued, would not only promote Pakistani exports but also showcase the success of the local furniture industry on a global scale.

As the furniture industry holds significant potential for growth and job creation, Mian Kashif emphasized the importance of proactive measures by the government and stakeholders to unlock its full potential. By providing the necessary support and incentives, Pakistan can position itself as a competitive player in the global furniture market while driving economic growth and prosperity at home.
