Google confirms Pixel 11 price increases amid rising memory costs

Company says higher RAM prices will lead to pricing adjustments for new Pixel phones and eventually existing models.

Google has confirmed that the upcoming Pixel 11 lineup will see price increases as the company grapples with rising memory costs, signalling that higher prices may also affect existing Pixel devices in the future.

The confirmation comes ahead of Google’s Made by Google event on August 12, where the company is widely expected to unveil the Pixel 11 series.

Speaking to 9to5Google, Google’s Vice President of Devices and Services, Shakil Barkat, acknowledged that the company has been struggling to absorb sharp increases in memory prices.

Although Barkat did not disclose specific pricing details, he confirmed that price adjustments are inevitable.

“Adjustments” to Pixel pricing are coming and “will be rolled out dynamically to match supply realities,” he said, indicating that the Pixel 11 lineup will be affected by the higher component costs.

The comments support earlier reports suggesting that the entry-level Pixel 11 could launch at $899, compared with the $799 starting price of the Pixel 10 series.

Barkat also suggested that current Pixel devices may not be immune to future price increases. He indicated that “in-market Pixel phones” could eventually see pricing changes, raising questions about how long the Pixel 10a’s $499 starting price will remain unchanged.

Despite the expected price hikes, Google said it has no plans to scale back customer incentives. The company intends to continue offering trade-in programmes, promotional discounts and bundled deals to make new Pixel devices more attractive to buyers.

Google is also working on reducing Android’s memory requirements to lessen the impact of increasingly expensive RAM.

According to Barkat, the company aims to improve Android’s memory efficiency, allowing devices to deliver better performance while relying less on costly memory components.

Achieving that goal could help manufacturers offset rising hardware costs over the long term while also improving the overall Android user experience.

The Pixel 11 launch comes at a time when smartphone makers across the industry are facing higher production costs due to ongoing memory supply constraints.

Several manufacturers, including Samsung and Xiaomi, have already cited increased RAM and storage prices as a key reason behind rising smartphone prices in 2026.

With Google’s flagship launch just weeks away, consumers are now waiting to see how much the Pixel 11 series will cost and whether the company’s trade-in offers and promotional deals will be enough to soften the impact of the expected price increases.
