The launch of the GWM ORA 5 has intensified competition in Pakistan’s electric vehicle market, offering buyers another compelling alternative to the BYD Atto 3.
Both electric SUVs are positioned in a similar price segment and target customers looking for a premium EV with modern technology, practical range, and strong performance.
The ORA 5 officially entered the Pakistani market this week with an ex-factory price of Rs8,599,000, making it slightly more affordable than the BYD Atto 3.
Price Comparison
Pricing remains one of the biggest deciding factors for buyers. The GWM ORA 5 carries an ex-factory price of Rs8,599,000, while the BYD Atto 3 is available at Rs8,990,000.
This gives the ORA 5 a price advantage of Rs391,000, making it the more affordable option for customers entering the EV segment.
Performance Comparison
Although both electric SUVs produce the same 150 kW maximum power, there are noticeable differences in torque and acceleration.
The GWM ORA 5 generates 260 Nm of torque, while the BYD Atto 3 produces a stronger 310 Nm, giving it an advantage in low-speed acceleration and overtaking. The Atto 3 also completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds, marginally quicker than the ORA 5’s 8.0 seconds.
However, the ORA 5 offers a higher top speed of 170 km/h, whereas the BYD Atto 3’s listed maximum speed is lower.
Battery and Driving Range
The ORA 5 features a 58.33 kWh LFP battery, considerably larger than the Atto 3’s 49.92 kWh BYD Blade Battery.
In terms of certified driving range, the ORA 5 delivers 430 km (WLTP), while the BYD Atto 3 offers 410 km (NEDC Combined Cycle). Since the WLTP testing standard is generally regarded as more realistic than NEDC, the ORA 5’s range may better reflect real-world driving conditions.
Energy efficiency is another highlight for the ORA 5, with an official consumption rating of 15.5 kWh per 100 km.
Suspension and Driving Dynamics
The GWM ORA 5 comes equipped with MacPherson front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, a setup designed to provide improved ride comfort and handling. It also features ventilated front disc brakes, rear disc brakes, and electric power steering (EPS).
While the BYD Atto 3 is known for its balanced ride quality and responsive handling, the ORA 5’s suspension configuration is equally competitive on paper.
